A busy day at work. At 4:30 PM I realized I’d better head for the Marketplace and look for coins. Other people must be Finding too, because the pickings were pretty slim. One penny in the middle of the white tile at Panda Express and then another penny at the convenience store. (God’s 2¢ worth today).

I didn’t leave work until 9:40 PM. Doc and I had driven separately, but he also worked late tonight. I planned to stop at the CVS to print a photo on my way home. Doc surprised me by following me! His comment “I haven’t found MY coins today”! Penny Fever.
Doc arrived at the CVS a few moments before I did. He collected one penny in the pay phone. (Coin #3) It was one minute before closing and he was let in, but not me. He negotiated and I got in while he went home to feed the dogs. He detoured through McDonalds (to feed himself first) and found a dime! (Coin #4).
As Doc approached the red light on the final stretch for home, he scanned for pennies. Something glinted. He stopped, backed up the van, confirmed the glint, and dove for it. Yes -- in the dark at a major intersection. Penny Fever. A Median Find IN THE DARK!

This morning began with a great incoming email. It just made my heart smile:
….I needed a quarter, so I stooped to invoking the powers-that-be: "Penny Angels, Penny Angels, what do you say? Will I find a quarter to hit for the cycle in October today?" It didn’t help. Maybe they are picky about meter, so I tried "Penny Angels, Penny Angels, what do you say? A quarter will Hit for the Cycle Today." Under a dining table was the afore-requested quarter; three consecutive months now of hitting for the cycle.
This person is a “logical, practical, scientific-type thinker” who would never admit publicly to all this Penny Finding / Angel stuff. I just have to laugh that he has caught the Penny Fever and is one of the strongest PennyFinders. ;-) His full story on Day #297 Comments.

After snagging a dime in the vending machine in the morning, I figured I’d pre-sweep the marketplace before Miss Butt-Sitter could get over there. With a penny at the register for Bronco Express, and a nickel by the tables outside, I was in severe need of a quarter. A Penny Angel singsong wasn’t getting anywhere, so I upped it to an even higher power: "Quarter Angels, Quarter Angels, don’t be so fickle! A quarter right now would hit for the cycle." (fycle/cycle, fickle/sickle? Good meter, lousy rhyme.) I even checked the magic lab in 17 and only got a washer. I was charging back to my office after a repair mission. Needed to get out and leaving on time, tried the vending machines one more time; the farthest machine had the requested quarter! :-)
