In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #1,037 - Hooray!

The good news is that our Claremont property is in Escrow. Hooray! The bad news is that now we have two choices: a) Pay lots of taxes on the sale or b) Roll the funds into other investment properties. With housing prices at a low point right now, it seems prudent to consider rental properties. Thus, today we went house hunting.

Today we investigated thirteen rental properties within 35 miles from home. Some of them were pretty nice and I enjoyed walking around the neighborhoods; others were boarded up, bug infested, and would require major renovations. I do not want to deal with major fix up projects at this time.

We found two pennies at the first property. I did a “Hooray” when I found them. Our realtor Adrie said, “That much excitement for just a penny? I figured you found a quarter!” So at the next house when I found a quarter I let out a bigger “Hooray!

Throughout the day Doc and I found numerous coins. Our realtor was dismayed that she had not found any. Then she spotted one right under Doc’s foot! Hooray!

At one property a penny was standing upright in the street with the sun shining on it. It was shining like a beacon! Hooray!

Doc and I were both exhausted after such a full day, but this evening he graded student papers while I took care of some overdue household and Penny Palace chores.

Total: 16 Coins P (15), N (0), D (0), Q (1) = $0.40

A fun blog as usual. I sure hope you find the perfect rental, that being where you have quality tenants that deserve such super duper landlords as I know you will be. (Although, too many "Hooray's" and the tenants might evict you.)
