In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #244 - Penny Finding Family

Once again, a day with numerous penny finds. There were no coin finds before work this morning. It was my final workout session at the Fitness Center. With the 10% cut in our paychecks and the house project on the horizon, I can’t afford the money or time to exercise. The new house and Penny Finding are higher priorities.

Doc visited Starbucks on campus. He did not see any coins and was about to leave when he spotted a shiny quarter! At least now we were covered for the day. (Coin #1)

This afternoon we picked up the kids for our bi-weekly Play Session. First stop was for an oil change on the van. While Uncle Doc and Nicholas took care of the mechanical aspects, Brandon, Ashley and I set out to add steps on the pedometer and find coins. Brandon found the first penny within minutes. There was another penny as we returned to the service bays. Andrea from EZ Lube was helpful in retrieving the third penny. Then we walked all the way down to the car wash for the fourth penny. Brandon stepped 1” from it while opening the door for me. I told him to watch out for his big toe - there was a penny which was going to bite it! (Coins #2-5)

Next it was time to play in the park. Doc was determined to accomplish his 10,000 steps for today, so he was doing laps while we played. Ashley insisted that I experience each playground feature with her. She doesn’t believe that some of us are larger than the small openings to access the slides!

Doc has eagle eyes and spotted a penny and dime at the park vending machines. Then three more pennies were found in the grass nearby. (Coins #6-10). Brandon found a lonely penny in a pathway all of us had traveled at least 3-4 times. (Coin #11)

We had dinner in the Chinese section of San Gabriel. One of those restaurants where you point at the pictures to communicate. The kids enjoyed the big silver fish in the tank.

After dinner while waiting for the check, the kids massaged our shoulders and ears. We were being absolutely spoiled! Why? Hmmm… Their comment, “We are spoiling you, so you will spoil us next!” In other words -- they wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese. We went there for 40 minutes. Doc, Nicholas and I each found a token there (75¢ equivalent). (Coins #12-14) Doc went next door to Starbucks . He detoured through the Whole Foods store to collect two pennies there. (Coins #15&16)

Total for the day: 16 coins Q (1), D (1), N(0), P (11) + 3 CEC Tokens (75¢) = $1.21

Angel lesson perceived: Be Grateful; Appreciate; Give Thanks.
