In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #1,016 - JOY

At what age does sleeping on a hard floor cease to be fun? I guess it goes along with roller coasters and wild carnival rides as far as being “for the younger people”. Last night I was trying to sleep while wedged in between four snoring kids and a dog who was hogging my blanket. My body was in agony, but my heart was happy. Lots of love there.

This morning it was off to International House of Pancakes (IHOP) for breakfast. We collected Oma Karrin on the way. The food service was super slow which frustrated everyone because the kids were anxious to have play time at Chuck E. Cheese's and we were anxious to check in at the jobsite since the “Arbor of Love” was being built today.

It was exciting to find Danny and Jose with the Garden Arbor posts in place. Neighbor Craig came over to deliver a package which he had signed for on our behalf. The confused FedEx driver did not know how to deliver to a construction zone.

The kids had a great time exploring the various rooms (including the Elf Quarters) and scrambling on the rock pile. After a brief visit, they were anxious for Their Time. Chuck E Cheese’s was next on the agenda. We had an hour there in which time Jaime found a penny (Coin #1) and Brandon found 29 CEC tokens! (valued at 25¢ each).

We quickly went home, showered and changed for the wedding. Next we drove Oma Karrin home. Uncle Doc spied and collected a Median Find Penny. (Coin #2). Lunch was at McDonalds. I was out voted 5-1 on that selection. By two o’clock we had the kids home.

I had totally forgotten about getting a wedding card so we made an urgent stop for one. Made a quick selection and found the check out lines to all be full and lengthy. I asked the angels for assistance. Immediately a cashier at the Service Desk said, “I can help you over here”. No wait. Done. As we were leaving the store, Doc was walking ahead of me and looking to the right and left - scanning for coins. He walked right over a very shiny new penny! My coin for today. (Coin #3).

This afternoon and evening were spent at a wedding. My uncle died unexpectedly 3 years ago. My Aunt never expected to re-marry, yet that is what happened today. On both sides there are grown children and friends who are thrilled to share in the JOY.

Total: 3 Pennies

Tina, this was a most heartwarming blog. Sounds like all the activities today squeezed out finding all but one penny.
Glad you got the greeting card into a faster checkout lane, and I'm REALLY glad she got re-married. What a nice surprise for her, I'm sure. (I'm still waiting for such a surprise - at 60 years old!)
My favorite photo is of the kids standing on the ledge in the new house. And my favorite video is also of them, walking into the room. That footage is priceless
