Background

In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #636 - One Year

New House Information:

It has been one year since we closed escrow on the new Deer Creek property. This week (after 4 months of reviews) we acquired the City’s OK to proceed with our proposed plans. We may now work on the detailed construction drawings. Doc says it is like a 1-year-old baby. We were crawling along and now we are taking shaky initial steps.

This morning a contractor unexpectedly called us and asked if we would be interested in talking to him. He had been referred to us by our Landscape Architect. He came over and we spent 1.5 hours reviewing our project. As he departed he said, “I will have you a Bid in two weeks or at the most, three weeks”. That would be really nice. We currently have 4 sets of plans out for bid. It has been 7 weeks and so far we do not have any bids in hand. It is frustrating since we need to begin the loan process, yet we need project cost estimates first.

Nuts and Bolts of today’s Penny Finds:

Doc found one penny, a nickel and a quarter when he and Sparky went for breakfast at McDonalds. (Coins #1-3)

At 5 PM we headed out for our scheduled on-line radio interview. We stopped at McDonalds for a snack plus 2 pennies and a dime. (Coins #4-6). So Doc got a Hit for the Cycle at that McDonalds today.

Then we stopped at a gas station for fuel - and another nickel! (Coin #7) Plus I shared the Penny Finding Story and Penny Card with the cashier. A quick drive through Starbucks for a dime and ANOTHER nickel! (Coins #8&9). Then one last penny at the grocery store after the radio interview. (Coin #10)

WHY don’t Penny Angels work on Earthly Time Zones? I was asking for 3 nickels on Tuesday, not today. That would have made a TRIPLE Hit for the Cycle on that day.
