In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #1,051 - New Turf

With all the attention on the Penny Palace, our current house was feeling a bit neglected. Today she demanded some attention. Burned out light bulbs needed changing, dog poop needed scooping, the waterfall timer needed fixing, the pond needed filling, etc., etc.

I managed to do a little research and comparison shopping on kitchen appliances for the Penny Palace. The same double oven can be found on line for $1032 or at Home Depot for $1499.

Doc and I had a few errands to run (bank, post office, Starbucks). Found 2 pennies. (Coins #1&2)

This evening we attended the annual Mechanical Engineering Department Potluck. Objective: Meet the new faculty, meet spouses, say hello again to the retirees, EAT! It was agreed that next year the function will be at the Penny Palace!

At 9:30 p.m. on the way home from the function, we were passing a 7-11 store. Doc and I were laughing saying “there’s a store we haven’t hit yet! New turf! Shall we?” Doc made a VERY quick, unexpected left turn into the parking lot. I found one penny in the lot and two inside the store. (Coins #3-5). The cashier wondered what I was doing. I gave him a Penny Card and explained the story. He said he doesn’t bother picking up pennies, but after hearing the story, he will re-consider.

Thought: It’s fun to explore new locations. Who needs exotic vacations? The nearest corner store can be a fun adventure (and a whole lot less expensive)!

Total: 5 Pennies
