In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #232 - Renewed Hope

Today’ goal was to get work done at the cabin. Plumbing on two shower faucets, door molding cut and installed, painting, balusters cut and added to the deck railing, etc. We loaded tools and gear and headed out. But just a quick detour past that parcel of land we saw on Wednesday, and then a quick look at one or two other parcels. And then a stop at Stevie’s to get his pneumatic nailer. But of course he must be taken a cup of Starbucks as payment …

A number of coins were found on our journey up the mountain. One penny at Starbucks while doing steps in place in the drive up line. (Coin #1) The line took 20 minutes! Doc got his coffee and was pulling forward when I spotted two quarters! (Coins #2&3). Coffee was delivered to Stevie and nail gun obtained in exchange.

We needed to stop for gasoline. Doc threw me out of the van at Panda Express just prior to the gas station. I found a penny. Then I found one Schmushed penny by the vacuum hose. (Coins #4&5). After leaving the station and approaching the freeway, Doc spotted a potential penny on the center divider. That does seem to be his specialty area - Median Retrievals. He rescued a very mangled Coin #6.

Note written Sunday evening: The imprint on the schmushed penny is “The Magic House”. Wow. That just hit me. Maybe the Penny Angels are trying to say something. Renewed Hope. Doc has asked me several times tonight about writing penny tales. Each time I have ignored him. This afternoon around 4 pm I began sketching out a new layout for the house - our current plans would not work on this new property. I have not even wanted to “come up for air”. Because I want to focus on the Dream “Magic” HOUSE!

When exiting the freeway, Doc spotted a shiny thing in the center divider. He went for it. Turned out to be an electronic coin.

Finally arrived at the cabin around 1 p.m. Did some work. Made a run to the hardware store around 3:45. McDonalds at Crestline: continuous stream of cars at lunchtime. Except for one break in traffic when I swooped in to collect 6 pennies, one nickel and two dimes! (Coins #7-15). Had to stop for food at the grocery store 1¢ there. (Coin #16).

It got dark and we couldn’t see very well to work. Used a flashlight for a while, then gave up around 8:30. Returned the borrowed equipment at 9:45. Stopped for a burrito. Found a nickel in the drive through of Miguels’s JR. (Coin #17). DOUBLE Hit for the Cyclce

Total for the day: 17 coins Q (2), D (2), N(2), P (11) - one is schmushed = $0.91
