In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #364 - Special Angels

Angels are all around us.

Last night after I wrote Penny Tails, I realized the new guy who was supposed to design and implement an impressive website had flaked out. He was supposed to have some sample concepts by Monday afternoon, then Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Thursday. By midnight last night I had nothing.

At 1 a.m. this morning I sat at the computer and said to the Penny Angels, “This website was supposed to be operational a few days ago. The media releases have gone out. People will start coming to the site tomorrow. I do not know how to design pages. I tried on Sunday to edit a few things and really messed up the pages. Help! I’m going to need to learn this or do something drastic by daylight”. I cautiously entered the web site and opened two pages.

Around 1:05 AM my phone rang. It was friend, Mandy. She normally goes to bed relatively early so I was surprised to hear her voice. She said, “I thought that web guy might not deliver as promised, so I’m here working on your website just in case. Wanted you to have it operating in the morning!” Coincidence? We were on the phone as she worked diligently until 4 a.m. in making sure the various components were working properly. After she went to bed, I worked on the text and low-risk things.

By 5:30 AM Chaz was taking a break from his other project and provided the newly formatted 21 Ways to Gift a Penny. Nice!

By 7:00 AM Doc was up and we were ready to start our day. There were some houseshold chores and yard tasks. An interview with a local newspaper at 8:30, then a meeting with Pat and related calls for the next hour. Another newspaper interview around 11:30.

The afternoon was spent responding to emails, editing documents, website work and all sorts of stuff. Finally I got a 15 minute break for food and a shower. Then I was off to the post office. Lonnnnggggg lines. I passed out some of the new Penny Cards to generate some smiles. Those worked.

Had to stop at the bank. When returning to my truck I was nudged to detour through the coin laundry. Yipee. A penny (Coin #1).

Doc had a good hunting day. He collected his first coin (a dime) at Starbucks. Then he found 3 pennies while he was getting the van washed His expertise is in Median finds and tonight on his way home, he got another one. (penny)

***************

This evening we have been sorting rolls of pennies in order to pick out the shiny ones. Now gluing them onto the new Penny Cards for distribution tomorrow. One of the Guidebook Stakeholders dropped in for a few moments to buy his share and to cheer us on with our Penny Production line. Nice surprise.

At midnight we will head out to Find the Day #365 coin(s) so they can be included in tomorrow’s ceremony.

Today’s Lesson: There are Angels all around us. Both Heavenly and Earthbound.

Today’s Total: 6 coins P (5), N (0), D (1), Q (0) = $0.15

You and Doc are absolutely amazing. After exhaustive days and hours, you're going out in 3 minutes to find more pennies to give to the needy in the Red Kettle. Wow. I really enjoyed working on this project with you. Pat and Mandy did outstanding work as well. Ryan probably had the best intentions, but us artists are flakes, you know. Well, if I keep typing r e a l s l o w I'll be able to congratulate you on Day 365 (I assume you'll find at least one penn-- OH IT'S MIDNITE -- CONGRATULATIONS TINA!!!!!!!!!
