In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #1,032 - No Brass

We began another day with the continental breakfast which is included with the hotel stay. Then Doc graded some more student papers while I checked emails and wrote some postcards.

At 10:15 we checked out of the hotel and proceeded to the mortuary for the Celebration of Life.

Afterward we enjoyed a tailgate lunch with the kids, my two brothers and my mom.

Doc and I decided not to attend the burial since it was another 30 miles in the opposite direction of home. Doc needed to prepare for this week’s classes and we still had the issue of the leaky faucet awaiting us.

On the way home we stopped at four hardware stores seeking polished brass bathroom faucets. As long as we needed to change the shut off valve and supply hose, we figured we might as well change the faucets since they are looking really worn. There were zero polished brass fixtures to be found! Those were common 25 years ago when we built the bathroom, but I guess that color is no longer in fashion. We found a penny and a dime at the first hardware store and another penny at the second hardware store. (Coins #1-3).

We finally gave up on the idea of putting in a new faucet and just bought one shutoff valve along with one hose. After two hours of shopping and one hour of repair work, the leak seems to be solved and we have turned on the water to the house.

Total: 3 Coins P (2), N (0), D (1), Q (0) = $0.12
