In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #1,165 - Warm Soup

This morning I was at the Penny Palace at 8 a.m. to meet and work with Handyman George. At 9 a.m. I called to ask where he was? He said since it was raining, he did not expect that I would want him there. Since when does a little rain stop me from working?

George said he would arrive after lunch to work with me. So I had a few hours to myself. I worked on the decal in the Garden Bathroom. At 10 a.m. Concrete Tony (the “Old Goat”) dropped by and asked me if I wanted to look at some leftover stone to see if it could be used for paving the everyday entrance area. I really liked the look and feel of it, but unfortunately the quantity was not sufficient.

This morning there were light sprinkles off and on which got heavier by late afternoon. When George and Jose arrived at 1 p.m. the first thing we did was to transport tiles. Doc and I had boxed up leftover tiles and put them in the dog yard - last week when the weather was so gorgeous. Today we scrambled to get all those boxes moved under the house.

George and Jose grouted the kitchen sink tiles and the coffee bar tiles. Also repaired the drywall on the mug wall.

It was getting colder and windier and I was thinking that some warm soup sounded nice. A few minutes later my mom called and said she had made some soup and some macaroni salad for a function which she did not attend at the last minute. Would I like some soup this evening? COINcidence? I had not spoken with her for a few weeks.

Penny Finding:

This morning I was nudged to stop at the closed Kentucky Fried Chicken near our house. Figured it might be raining later in the day and I would not want to go anywhere else after work tonight. I found a dime and three pennies. (Coins #1-4).

There were numerous calls to make this morning regarding our construction loan, insurance on the new rentals, follow through on other items, etc. Doc agreed to stay home and take care of some of those. Then he went out for breakfast. (One penny). After that he mailed some letters, made bank deposits, did some leg work to find oak handrailing, plus the prerequisite stop at Starbucks (One dime there).

Total: 6 Coins P (4), N (0), D (2), Q (0) = $0.24

Kentucky Fried Chicken does not exist anymore. The colonel sold the secret recipe of eleven special herbs and spices, but sued to get the name back when his likeness was used to sell stuff he did not invent. It has to be called KFC.
