In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #1,359 - Unexpected

Watchin' the Horses go by

Today was a continuation of yesterday - a blur in hindsight.  I had my day planned out with my ‘top ten’ places to visit.

Drip Line Repairs
Landscaping Angel arrived somewhat unexpectedly.  He worked on drip line repairs and the waterfall valve which had been whistling louder and louder.

At 10 a.m. I finally got on the road for the 10 places on my “Saturday Tour”

1)  Paper Supply house for the second set of Open House envelopes which were ordered yesterday and arrived at the store this morning.
99)  Unexpected detour to the shoe store next door.  Saw some shoes which caught my eye.  Almost all my shoes are no “construction/work” shoes.  Doc said I needed some for the upcoming events.  The pair I tried to wear for the wedding last week is now going into the trash.  They are not even donatable.  For $15, I splurged on a new pair of shoes.

The sales assistant Monica was delightful.  She has been in. the U.S. for nine months.  She is taking night classes to learn English.  For some reason I was nudged to give her a Penny Card and tell her there were Angels which would help her with her schooling and her dreams.  She told me how she always collects coins and what they mean to her.  She said in her limited English, “I think it was no COINcidence that you came here today”.  Funny she should use that word.

99)  Unexpected detour to the lighting shop next door.  Still seeking a ceiling fan for the Master Bedroom.
2)  Pomona house and Neighborhood to check on house and distribute Open House invitations to some of the former neighbors.
3)  Petrol stop to feed Pippy. Went to a station where we used to frequently find coins.  Found four pennies.  (Coins #1-4).
4)  Bank to deposit a check and cash in half of the coins we rolled last night.  Found one penny in the lobby when leaving.  (Coin #5)
5)  Post Office to mail the international Invitations and to determine needed postage for the rest of the invitations.
6)  Second bank to take in more rolled coins
7)  Third bank to deliver invitation to the manager
8)  Print shop to photocopy Neighborhood Potluck flyers and to get insert cards cut. One penny found there.  (Coin #6)
9)  Fabric store to pick up upholstery fabric rolls which arrived yesterday
10)  Drapery Store to deliver fabric bolts

Doc called to say a phone company technician was on his way to the house.  The appointment with them was scheduled for Wednesday 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. so this was unexpected.  There has been much ‘noise’ on our line.  Technician Godfrey discovered something in their incoming line which he remedied. That solved 10% of the noise. He said the other 90% of the noise is on our side and there is nothing he can do about that.

Around 4 p.m. Doc unexpectedly turned off the TV and asked if Godfrey had ever returned?  “Yes, Dear.  I have been out there working with him for the past 30 minutes”.  That must have goaded Doc into action.  For the next hour he was helpful in securing the curio cabinet and a few other little tasks (like going to get us a Mediterranean meal).

This morning Doc and Sparky found a dime and a penny when they went to the grocery store for coffee.  (Coins #7&8)

Total:  8Coins        P (7), N (0), D (1), Q (0) = $0.17
