In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #565 - Week One

A very busy day today.

We had a 9:30 AM appointment scheduled with the architect. Doc stopped for coffee at Starbucks while I walked the aisles of the CVS store next door and collected a penny in the pet care section. (Coin #1). The meeting went well. We reviewed the notes from Tuesday’s meeting with the R.C. Planning and Building Officials. Now the architect can proceed with work on the structural calculations, grading plan, building drawings, etc. for our second submittal to the City.

The afternoon was spent at the doctor’s office. We had been putting off the numerous notices received over the past years for getting our physicals, PAP smear, updated shots, etc. - basic maintenance stuff. So we finally got most of that stuff off the To Do list - just a few follow up actions.

This evening we met at our Duarte rental unit with Daryl, a Contractor, to assess the scope of the repair work. He is the same guy we interviewed last Friday regarding work on our new house. I had told him Friday about Penny Tales. Today as we were inspecting the condo, I pulled out a dresser drawer to find a penny. (Coin #2). Then Doc pulled the dresser forward. I KNEW 100% that we would find at least one coin behind there. There was a penny and a nickel (Coins #3&4). Daryl smiled. Made a believer out of him.

Doc and I went out for (another) anniversary dinner at one of our favorite restaurants near the condo. Then we stopped for petrol at a big gas station which also had a drive-through coffee window. Doc fuelled the van while I searched for coins. One penny out in the main area, one penny approaching the car wash and two nickels at the drive through window. (Coins #5-8)

Thoughts: One week off work now and significant progress has been made in numerous areas.

Scary - only 51 weeks of leave remaining!

Total: 8 Coins P (5), N (3), D (0), Q (0) = $0.20

Wow! 3 nickels again!
