In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #572 - Prepaid Lunch

Wow! Doc and I are incredibly pooped after “not being at work” this week. May need to go to school tomorrow in order to “rest up” for a few hours!

We had errands to run this morning for the rental condo - like pricing ranges, vent hoods, etc. When we stopped for petrol, Doc fuelled the tank while I obtained a penny in the convenience store. (Coin #1)

When Doc and I arrived at the condo, the drywallers were hard at work. They had scraped the ceilings and cleaned up the damaged areas. Doc and I went upstairs to investigate - and found another penny under that dresser we had moved a few days ago! (Coin #2)

We were investigating the source of a newly-discovered water leak and removed the air intake grille for the furnace. There were four pennies in there! (Coins #3-6). It was fun to share the Penny Finding story with the drywallers. The second grille we opened had crayons, a necklace, trash, a battery, a spoon and many more artifacts. Yuck.

It was late afternoon when we left the condo and I was starving. I asked Doc if we could go into a restaurant versus going through a fast food drive up window. I wanted just a few minutes to escape and unwind from the frustrations of the newly found leak and the magnitude of the repair job -- a few moments of pleasantness. And it was given to us!

We found a little Mexican / Indian place. That sounded good to both us, so we went in. We were the only ones in the place and a very nice Indian lady (who was the owner) greeted us warmly. She was so friendly, so I asked her a question which triggered a whole series of things. Turns out her daughter was one of Doc’s best Mechanical Engineering advisees! We had a wonderful meal and great conversation. We went to pay for our lunch and the lady said, “No. You have already paid with the care and advice you have given my daughter!” Wow! Prepaid lunch. Definitely a pleasant lunch as I requested - with additional bonus! This verbalizing stuff is great!

Thought: What goes around, comes around -- and you never know when that will be.

A few more stops and then Home Depot to look at toilets, vanities, ovens, faucets, etc. We were too brain-dead to make any purchases, so we merely collected a quarter and a penny and went home. (Coins 7&8)

Total: 8 Coins P (7), N (0), D (0), Q (1) = $0.32
