In March 2008 I began Finding Pennies. In December 2008 I began sharing these "Penny Tales" with a few close friends. They encouraged me to blog the Penny Tales such that more people could enjoy the Adventures with Penny Angels.

Day #972 - Doors

Let’s see if we can finish today’s Penny Tale very quickly tonight. Challenge: get it written and out the door within one hour. I have other things I want to work on.

Today’s coin finds:

Doc stopped for coffee. I wandered in front of the nearby stores and found two pennies. (Coins #1&2). I returned to the coffee shop ready to leave. I found Doc sitting and eating a sugar-coated pastry. I was not pleased. He told me to go for a walk and look for coins. I did and found two dirt coins in a planter. (Coins &3&4) I assumed they were both pennies until I I got back to the van and rinsed them off. One penny, one dime. As Doc and I walked to the van, he pointed out a dime. As I bent to retrieve it, I also collected a penny. (Coins #5&6).

There was one penny found when we went to lunch with the ProBuild reps (Coin #7)

Total: 7 Coins P (5), N (0), D (2), Q (0) = $0.25

Again, the number 25 comes up

Penny Palace Update:

Doc and I arrived on site as a truck load of exterior doors and pocket door frames arrived. There was no time to do anything except call some guys over to get the doors offloaded. We were expecting the framing crew to have all 5 guys there today. Something came up at their other project and thus only Ruben was there to offload the doors. Doc and I tried to help lift things, but we were not much help.

The young electrical guys took pity on us old timers and helped offload the doors. They basically told Doc and I to move out of their way. I teased Doc about his age - he received his first Social Security check yesterday.

While truck #1 was in the driveway, truckload #2 of doors arrived! And while we were offloading those doors, the window and door reps from ProBuild arrived.

We did a walk through with the ProBuild reps for the interior doors to get those ordered. We also called the Anderson window rep because Doc and I, plus the ProBuild reps could not get the bug screens out of the windows - they are too tight! By 1 p.m. we were famished and went for a lunch break.

After lunch it was time to look at the doors which had arrived. Look at the “rescue” leaded glass sidelights. They match the glass in the entry door perfectly! I didn’t realize that when I got them. “Coincidence”? Or Angel intervention. See special story on those.

Danny and Ruben framed the first pocket door so that the electrical crew could run their wiring.

Electrical crew continued more wiring. Carlos showed me the doorbell wire. Great - except that he placed it at the laundry room door to the dog yard. We really do expect most of our guests to come through the people door versus the doggie door. We all had a good laugh saying the doggies could just push the button if they wanted to come in or wanted service. Well in that case, the door bell button would need to be lowered! So I lowered it to dog level! When you visit, you can have a good laugh at that “OOPS”.

There is so much more, but I need to work on other things. Tomorrow will be a very busy and early day.

First, you need to find an intelligent dog.

I was as disappointed as you, reading about the vinyl sidelights the other day. I am SO glad that this little miracle occurred at the glass shop - you helped her to (in a way I know all too well).

Yikes. What's that CE doing electrical work?

PennyFinders said...

No, this CE was merely re-positioning the piece of PVC PIPING.
